Birgitta Schwansee is a graphic designer, artist, and calligrapher. She lives and works in Kassel and has a background at Visual Communication at the Art Academy Kassel (1987-1992), with a focus on graphic design, paper, typography, poster design, book design, and photography. In 1990 she founded the art and media collective ISKA. Since 2000 she works as a graphic designer, specializing in book design, illustration and handwriting. Schwansee trained brush calligraphy with master Kazuaki Tanahashi. She often works through interdisciplinary collaborations on the interplay of music and drawing and sound and writing.
